Scholarships

Aside from periodically offering workshops on how to apply for scholarships, we encourage students to keep track of scholarships posted in the EPCC Scholarships website. Although no longer active due to changes in state law, Papagayo founded the International Student Scholarship, the first and only scholarship open exclusively to international students at EPCC. With the assistance of the EPCC Foundation, the award was started by Professor Gomez, Papagayo advisor, based on his own experience on an F-1 visa through undergrad and graduate school. Thanks to donations from faculty, staff, and the community, Papagayo awarded $1,200 in scholarships to EPCC international students.

Mental Health

EPCC now offers mental health counseling for EPCC students through EPCC Cares.

Center for Students with Disabilities

The Center for Students with Disabilities provides students with the services they might need to succeed in their courses.

Creative Writing

Edited by EPCC students, Chrysalis magazine publishes poetry, fiction, art, and photography. They publish once a year and accept submissions from community members, including submissions in Spanish. We collaborate often with them.

Campus Life

Through its activities, Campus Life promotes a college-going atmosphere at each of EPCC’s campuses. At our own Rio Grande campus, they are a frequent collaborator.

EPCC Library

Each of the five EPCC campuses contains a library for students and community members. The Jenna Welch & Barbara Bush Community Library in the Northwest campus is unique in forming a partnership with El Paso Public Library that allows it to feature among other things, a summer program of activities for children.

Honors Program

Aside from offering honors credit, the EPCC Honors Program is unique when it comes to honors programs in providing an Enhanced Honors project wherein students gain presentation experience by defending their research against a committee of faculty.

Pasos Program

The Pasos Program at EPCC provides mentorship and extra-curricular opportunities for students while helping them focus on completing their coursework and transferring to university. We frequently team up to bring in culturally relevant authors to campus.

Service Learning

The service-learning program at EPCC promotes connections to the community through providers that offer service-learning credit that Papagayo regards as a critical part of a holistic approach to learning.

Tejano Mercado

Available at the Valle Verde campus and at other campuses soon, EPCC’s Tejano Mercado serves as a food pantry and place for students to obtain other necessities like clothes and hygiene products.

Writing Center

Located at each of EPCC’s five main campuses, the EPCC Writing Center tutors students who seek assistance not only in their writing classes, but in writing for any context, such as scholarships, and is available online and in person.

Student Parent Resource Center

The Student Parent Resource Center is now available at every EPCC campus to help meet the needs of student parents.

Veterans Resource Center

Reopening in 2025 at the Valle Verde and Transmountain campuses, the Veterans Resource Center is critically important for military students and their families given Fort Bliss.
